Lost Continent

Among Eulea's continents none holds more significance than the so called 'Lost' Continent, formerly known as Haldus. This is a realm of power and monsters where magic is wild and nothing is ever as it seems. Once it was a peaceful land like all others, distinct only because of the presence of five impossibly ancient towers, now recognised as the Trials, that one day emerged from its depths to dominate the skylines. As a result it had cities, Kingdoms and like many others was annexed into the Acrean Empire during the Unification Wars. This peaceful time would be brought to an end due to the Cataclysm that turned huge parts of the land into a blasted wasteland and destroyed many settlements. Those who survived soon found themselves the victims of enormous beasts that emerged from the magical fallout and soon the continent was lost to all but the Immortals who could survive the harsh environment. To this day only a single city survives on the coast, the only official port in and out of the realm, protected by great magics and powerful guardians who hold back the tide of death beyond. Immortal hunters roam the wilds, seeking out beings of great power to bring down and enhance their own while criminals and nefarious beings use the lawless wastes to hide from their pursuers. It is a dark land that only the bravest would seek to challenge but for those who survive the rewards are beyond imagination.

Geography

Much of the Eastern side of the continent is a blasted wasteland of rock and sand where flora and fauna are scarce and competition for survival is fierce. Despite this the area is by far the safest region and hosts the only major port and city that can be found on the coastline. The Southern region consists of a great Jungle filled with immense plant-life and equally sized creatures where any noticeable features have been crushed under the weight of life in the area. The Western side of the land consists of a series of hills and canyons all connected by a massively complex web of tunnels and caves that reach into the depths of the Underdark and beyond. In the North lies the crater at the epicentre of the Cataclysm and the land around it is cracked and distorted so greatly that the planet itself bleeds molten rock into the region as steam explosions, fissures and toxic gasses constantly threaten the surface. Finally at the centre of the the continent lies a great mountain whose peak seems to pierce the sky itself.

Fauna & Flora

The most notable feature of the Lost Continent are its inhabitants, the Divine Beasts, who are heavily mutated creatures who absorb so much magic their forms warp and they grow to immense sizes. While many have some similarities, such as their size, most Divine Beasts are entirely unique and host a whole range of impressive abilities. The beings are often hunted by Immortals for parts and power but they are not to be taken lightly for they are exceptionally dangerous foes.   Many rare plant species that cannot exist anywhere else can be found in the lands, even those that have long been thought extinct. Many seek to study and exploit much of the potential of these plants but oftentimes they are as mutated as their animal counterparts which sometimes makes them more valuable but oftentimes less so.

Natural Resources

The land has an abundance of material resources due to the blasted landscape and geological activity which drives precious minerals to the surface which can be exploited by the brave or foolish. This combined with the vast cavern networks makes the continent by far the most resource rich of all the lands. Also notable is the vast amount of latent magical power which can be exploited in a number of different ways to power great experiments or charge generators. This is only amplified by the presence of the focal point of all magic, where all the leylines meet at a single location, found right at the peak which dominates the central region of the world. Were it not for the dangers of such a place it would be rapidly swarmed by development but very few permanent structures can survive such circumstances.   Despite this the most valuable resources are the Divine Beasts and the Trials which combined allow for the birth of new Immortals and a method by which those Immortals can gain significant power.
