Central Dithmarburg

The Great Divider

Cragy, cold, desolate... that is what the stone lands of Central Dithmarburg use to be. When the Heavenly Throne united the lands of Dithmarburg, the valleys became vital links between the more valuable lands of the Dithmarburg Plateau and Dithmarburg Lowlands. For the traveling type, the reason to come here is simple, transit. It can't be understated however the power and majesty of the free cities in the valleys, Fenburg, Gozz, and Hanfort, but the most impressive is Wien, capital of the Heavely Throne of Dithmarburg. Traders will find a many wares from elsewhere here, due to it's location, but the only real export of the region is stone.
Henry Norwick, Travellers Guide to Evantian, Press of Wien, Wien, 1705.

Geography

Central Dithmarburg is crags of rock and stone, cut by much more lush valleys formed from erosion long ago. It is centrally located in the narrowest point betwen the Avignon and Sudeten Mountains, acting as a divide between the Lowlands and Plateau of Dithmarburg. Rivers flow sometimes here but are weak compared to the rivers of the Lowlands, normally flowing into small lakes. The views in the region are some of the best you can get of Dithmarburg, but these are often views of other regions, as Central Dithmarburg is rather desolate.   Earthquakes and rockfalls can be common in the area, but wildlife tends to stay away from people. Human risks are very low due to the power projected from Wien.

Fauna & Flora

Wildlife in this area is limited, but unique. Many creatures here are predators but will avoid attacking humanoids unless provoked, the exception to this being the Haast Eagle, which is the most feared animal in all of Dithmarburg.   The plantlife of the area consists of low trees and bush, in spite of the rocky landscape, it is still somewhat viberate. The valleys however have plants more akin to that of the Lowlands, but are still limited in comparision.

Natural Resources

The only real natural resource in the area is stone from large quarries, most wealth comes from trade, which since it comes from it's position could be considered natural resources.
