Eislela

Eislela is widely known as the wild continent. It is home to the highest concentration of dragon species and the sparsest population of humans. It was the first continent to be conquered and settled by the peoples of Eqoris and Faidane, but it remains more populated by natives. The people living here are deeply connected to the world they inhabit, and, in the time of wizards and magi, were more likely to be born as magi. Even though the days of human magi are long gone, much to the disappointment of the Eislelans, Dragon-Tongues are more likely to be born here than anywhere else on the planet.

Geography

Eislela is mostly covered in lush, temperate forests and plains. A massive mountain range runs along the very top of the continent, cutting its people off entirely from the northern ice cap. The continent itself can be divided into three different climates: evergreen forests, deciduous forests, and plains. Evergreen forests cover the northwest while deciduous forests take the south. The east is almost entirely a plain, with the sparse exceptions of small forests and lakes.

Water has never been an issue in Eislela. The continent is crisscrossed with various rivers, most of which run south from the Northern Mountains to the Center Ocean. Lakes are common, small stops for the rivers on their journey to the sea. Water is most common in the southwest, where it pools into massive lakes and rivers that drain into the nearby ocean.

The continent of Eislela offers some of the most picturesque landscapes in Etria. With a wilderness that remains largely untouched by corporations and modern development, it only takes a short walk to be immersed in wild, untamed forest. It's little wonder why Ozzanth made his home there for so long, among the gorgeous world that serves as his domain.

Fauna & Flora

Of the dragons that live on Eislela, most are of earthen magic. There are a couple of notable exceptions, such as the sky dragons in the Northern Mountains and the ocean dragons that live along the coasts. However, most of Eislela is home to earth dragons.

During the Era of Ancients, Ozzanth called Eislela his home, in turn making it home to earth dragons. Though the theory has never been proven scientifically (or magically), it is widely accepted that this concentration of earth dragons and, in turn, earth magic, is what caused Eislela to grow so lush and fertile, allowing early humans and animals to flourish where they suffered on other continents. While elsewhere animals have been forced to adapt and evolve in order to survive, creatures on Eislela have encountered no such difficulties. Fossils of ancient Eislelan creatures are remarkable in the sense that they tend to be very similar to, if not exactly the same as, the modern creatures that resemble them.

Natural Resources

The regions of Eislela each have access to a different set of natural resources. However, there are a lot of similarities between what different countries produce and export.

Eislelan nations that border the Northern Mountains have easy access to stone and metals. Here, nations will typically set up mining industries in order to harvest as much from the mountains as possible. Though stone is often the largest export, there are a number of metals and gems that appear in these areas. For instance, sky and earth crystals are rather common finds here, which further support the theory that early magic from the sky and earth has seeped into the land of Eislela. These crystals are valuable exports for the nations that can find and refine them, as crystals of the same quality are either rare or difficult to acquire outside of the region of the Northern Mountains.

The many forests of Eislela produce a large amount of wood. Because of the many types of trees that grow there, Eislela is home to a number of prominent logging and foresting companies. That being said, those companies are kept in check by strict rules and regulations put in place to protect the natural beauty of the continent. Wood that is harvested from Eislela is plentiful and of good quality, making it very valuable to outside nations, such as those on Jicreon, where forests are less common, plentiful, or filled with trees of a lesser quality.

Finally, the fertile plains in the west are farmlands. Here, enough food is produced to feed the humans and dragons of Eislela and a significant number elsewhere.

Author's Notes

Something you'll probably notice as you explore this world is that some articles are better written than others. This is because I'm still a developing writer, so the later articles will be done better because I am, in fact, a better writer upon making them. You'll have to forgive the older articles and their writing style. I do plan on going back and revising them! ...Eventually. Truth be told, at this point I'm more focused on understanding my world than I am with making amazing articles. Thanks for being patient/understanding/tolerant of me and my flaws!
