Arson's Temple

The Temple of Arson of the Fire Magic is the divine home for all fire magic. There is no place on Etria where its magic is more prominent. Throughout its existence, Arson's Temple was built to be a safe and protected area. During the time of the Ancients, Arson himself would often stand guard atop the temple, especially in times of war or danger. Even after the Rescission and the disappearance of its original guardian, the Temple still stands as a symbol of strength and protection. It is even said that, on Arson's Day, when fire magic is at it's absolute height, you can still hear the Ancient's voice drifting through the Temple, a ghostly reminder that he is alive and waiting for the Third Light War.

Purpose / Function

The Temple of Arson of the Fire Magic is a safe haven for all creatures. In the time of the Ancients, it was built to house magi and dragons. It was used as a school, a place to train the newest and most powerful in the magic. It was considered Arson's home after he was forced to abandon Mount Leiver. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, it was the crowning place of the Fire Dragonmage. Its uses changed a couple of times, especially in the First and Second Light Wars. It serves as a safe haven for refugees and anyone seeking sanctuary.

Alterations

There have not been large alterations to the Temple throughout its time, but many smaller things have been changed. Unlike the temples of certain other Ancients, such as Ozzanth and Pairess , Arson's Temple has been internally updated and remodeled many times. However, these alterations only serve to improve living conditions in the Temple. For example, things like running water, electricity, and air conditioning have been added into the housing areas. The main temple, however, remains largely the same as when it was first constructed. Only the housing areas inside and outside the Temple have ever been modified.

Architecture

Arson's Temple is built largely from the dark stone of Jicreon. It's a large building with architecture resembling the Greek and neoclassical styles. It was built large enough for dragons to fly through it, and yet practical enough for people to live there. Though the main temple is grandiose and showy, the surrounding structures are humble. The Temple is surrounded by dark stone houses forming Satora, the city which Arson's Temple belongs to. Rooms and tunnels have been carved into the stone underneath the Temple, where priests live and refugees can stay.

History

The Temple of Arson was built after the founding of Satora. It was one of the later temples to be constructed, as Arson saw no reason for one. Eventually, however, it was constructed on a plateau overlooking the small town. For many years, it was used simply as a place to worship Arson. People would seek the temple out when they needed help or shelter, both of which would almost always be granted. After humanity gained magic and the first dragonmagi were chosen, the Temple also became an academy of sorts, serving as a place for new magi to learn fire magic. Many of Arson's dragonmagi made their homes here at some point in their lives. During the First Light War, the Temple was used for the storage of food and weapons. During the Second Light War, to the surprise of many, Arson turned the Temple into a stronghold. It was used as a place to hide shadow dragons and magi, while still maintaining all of its previous uses. After the Rescission, Arson's Temple became what it is today - a place of worship, fire magic, and sanctuary.

Author's Notes

Something you'll probably notice as you explore this world is that some articles are better written than others. This is because I'm still a developing writer, so the later articles will be done better because I am, in fact, a better writer upon making them. You'll have to forgive the older articles and their writing style. I do plan on going back and revising them! ...Eventually. Truth be told, at this point I'm more focused on understanding my world than I am with making amazing articles. Thanks for being patient/understanding/tolerant of me and my flaws!
