Gamekeeper Profession in Ethrosa | World Anvil

Gamekeeper

Our job is to keep you safe and to grow the population out in the wild. It is pretty simple in words, but difficult to execute.
— a Gamekeeper
Gamekeepers are an underrated and rarely known profession. Being a good Gamekeeper means you are rarely seen and the predatory fauna are nowhere near settlements. Gamekeepers remove potential predators from settlements, plant food sites in safe locations, and promote breeding of fauna in the wild. They also protect animals from being poached by humanoid creatures.   Gamekeepers are experts in the area of land they protect. If you are in the know Gamekeepers can hired to help hunters find the perfect spot, show people the natural view of different fauna, help researchers find the research subject(s), and more.

A Story of a Helpful Gamekeeper

As part of my studies being a Master at the Zaegora, Academy of Magics I am required to do field research at least one every five years. I enjoy going as frequently as I can and I often bring students along for the journey as well. I knew of this new Gamekeeper, a young lad, fresh Gamekeeper, but he knew his stuff. Kendel Eltoris was a young high elf of a prominant family and he spent time with his grandfather, Vesstan, from the time he started walking.   He took me out into a patch of the Dragon Blood Forest that I didn't know existed. It was beautiful and by a natural spring. He helped point out different fauna to see if anything was new. There were a few very interesting species that we found that day. But this, this find, is the golden goose, the big find. And we called it Sprindel. I wanted to honor him as he was the one to point it out. He found tiny clump of these 6 inch blades of grass in groups of three. When we carefully dug it up there was thousands of tiny thin white spindly roots all in a network of chaos.   I brought it back to Zaegora and brought Kendel with me. We spent time discovering what it could do and we did more field research. If you want to learn more you must buy my book. Or get a few drinks in me.
