Necromancy Magic

Necromancy is simultaneously the most despised and sought after schools of magic, due to its duality. By harnessing the power of the Negative plane, this school can drain vitality from others or gift it unto those who have already passed from this plane. However, the life given to these creatures does not have to be true life, as this school specializes in the raising of corpses as undead thralls.

Necromancer is the aptly coined terminology for anyone who practices this school of magic. Those who seek to delve into its dark secrets quickly find themselves gaining vigor from slaying foes with any of the spells of this school, or if they become proficient enough, they become able to amass a larger number of undead underlings than a normal caster would be able to with a basic spell of this school. At later stages, a mage of sufficient caliber will find themselves becoming hardened against the same draining magic that they wield, as well as harboring a resistance to the vitality leeching effects that some undead possess. The ultimate tool in the pocket of a necromancer is the ability to command undead that they find out in the field, bending them to their whim even if they are not the one who raised them.

Significant spells from this school include "Animate Dead", which brings a corpse or pile of bones back as an undead under the caster's control, "Revivify", which is a resurrection spell used to bring life back to the recently deceased, and "Horrid Wilting", a spell that targets multiple creatures with a vitality draining ability, causing massive amounts of necrosis, which is especially effective on plants.
