Reifier Klamen

Purifying Blades

The Reifier Klamen are a system-spanning assassin organization founded in 2986 SC. Guided by the teachings of Anak'shi, the god of death, rebirth, balance, and war, they serve as purifiers who remove corruption from society through precise intervention where conventional justice cannot reach. Unlike indiscriminate killers, the Klamen operate with strict ethical codes that govern when and how they may take a life. Their influence extends across Terra and its colonies, with outposts on Mars, Venus, and select scientific facilities on Luna. While relatively small compared to governmental organizations, numbering approximately four hundred thousand members, their strategic positioning and specialized training allow them to exert influence disproportionate to their size.

Origins & History

The Reifier Klamen emerged from a schism within the Silver Church during the late 2900s SC. A corrupted sect called the Unbound Kin had gained significant influence, perverting Anak'shi's teachings by conducting indiscriminate killings as "tributes" to the death god. These actions fundamentally misunderstood Anak'shi's domain as encompassing the natural cycle of life, death, and rebirth rather than death for its own sake.   A small group of devout followers, including a true prophet who could hear Anak'shi's guidance, broke away from the Unbound Kin. After methodically eliminating the corrupted leadership and dissolving their organization, this founding council established the Reifier Klamen ("Purifying Blades" in Argent) as a permanent institution dedicated to preventing similar perversions while addressing corruption that threatened cosmic balance.   Over the centuries, the organization expanded beyond religious concerns to address criminal, political, and social corruption. Their role during various historical events proved significant, particularly during the Red War(3489-3492 SC), where they systematically eliminated extremists on both sides to facilitate the eventual peace process.

Core Philosophy & Ethics

Unlike death cults that glorify violence and bloodshed for their own sake, the Reifier Klamen employ death as a solemn tool of last resort. Their philosophy centers on purification rather than destruction, with every assassination preceded by exhaustive investigation and deliberation. In many cases, the organization pursues non-lethal interventions when targets demonstrate potential for redemption.   The six foundational tenets that guide their actions are:
Do not slay those who are innocent.
Respect all life, no matter how great or small.
Do not waste life.
Do nothing to another being without their consent. (Modified within the organization for their primary mission).
Do not assume corruption without due evidence.
Aid the less fortunate.
Show spoiler
A seventh tenet was added by a later leader and Chosen of Anak’shi: Do not force others to follow the faith, or your views of the faith.
These principles manifest in their meticulous approach to potential targets. Before an assassination is authorized, extensive evidence must be gathered proving irredeemable corruption. If during a mission they discover exonerating evidence or signs of potential redemption, operatives are instructed to abort and report back for reassessment. Members who kill without proper authorization face severe consequences, as the organization views indiscriminate death as corruption itself.   The Klamen's legitimate religious foundation stands in contrast to groups like the Unbound Kin. Where death cults view violence as worship, the Klamen understand that Anak'shi's domain encompasses the entire cycle of existence. Their role is not to expedite death but to maintain balance by removing only those elements that threaten cosmic harmony.   Read more: Religious Practices and Beliefs of the Reifier Klamen

Organizational Structure

The Reifier Klamen operates through three primary branches, each serving distinct functions within the organization's broader mission.

The Right Hand

The Right Hand comprises the organization's combat specialists and assassins. Members progress through a structured hierarchy of twenty-one ranks, from newly recruited to the supreme leader known as the Diotklame (Godblade). Advancement requires not only combat proficiency but also philosophical understanding and devotion to the organization's principles.   Right Hand members specialize in precision elimination of targets deemed irredeemably corrupt. Their training emphasizes clean kills with edged weapons, though pragmatism prevails when circumstances require alternative methods. Beyond assassination, they also serve as the organization's primary defense against extraordinary threats, particularly demonic incursions.

The Left Hand

The Left Hand encompasses the clergy and support personnel. This branch manages religious functions, education, recruitment, and intelligence gathering. Its members often operate openly in society, gathering information and resources while identifying potential recruits and targets. The ten-rank hierarchy begins with the humble Novice and culminates with an Archimandrite, who oversees all religious functions within specific geographical regions. While not primarily combat-focused, Left Hand members receive sufficient training to defend themselves and support Right Hand operations when necessary.

Blood and Bones

This branch comprises the organization's medical professionals, scientists, engineers, and technical specialists. Members who show greater aptitude for intellectual pursuits than direct action find their place here, developing technologies and treatments that benefit both the organization and society at large.   Blood and Bones maintains the organization's medical infrastructure, develops specialized equipment, and pursues research initiatives across multiple disciplines. Their contributions occasionally extend beyond the organization, with breakthrough treatments and technologies discreetly disseminated to benefit humanity.

Rank Denotation

Within Reifier Klamen facilities, rank is indicated through a subtle collar pin system. Standard silver pins vary in position based on rank level, with left side placement for lower ranks, right side for middle ranks, and both sides for higher positions. Color accents distinguish branches: black for Right Hand, silver for Left Hand, and red or white for Blood and Bones, with additional color coding indicating specializations.   During covert operations, members utilize various discreet identification methods, including standardized accessory positioning, encoded speech patterns in their specialized language Klameling, and encrypted digital authentication through secure channels.   Read more about the branches and ranks here: Ranks of the Reifier Klamen

Infrastructure

Base Configurations

The Reifier Klamen maintains facilities throughout the Sol System, with each location adapted to its environment while serving organizational needs. Rather than following a uniform template, bases are customized according to their purpose and available resources.   Terrestrial facilities typically maintain minimal surface presence—appearing as unassuming commercial or residential structures—while housing extensive underground complexes. These subterranean zones contain training facilities, medical centers, educational wings, residential quarters, administrative sections, communications hubs, armories, and research laboratories.   On Mars and Venus, the organization has adapted to local conditions. Martian bases often utilize natural cave systems extended through excavation, while Venusian facilities frequently incorporate elevated or floating structures to accommodate the planet's unique weather patterns and day/night cycle. The Luna presence remains minimal but strategic, integrated within existing scientific facilities and focused primarily on intelligence gathering.

Recreational Infrastructure

Contrary to outsider perceptions, Reifier Klamen bases dedicate significant resources to recreation and wellbeing. Standard facilities include athletic centers with swimming facilities, gardens and green spaces, creation studios for arts and crafts, entertainment centers with immersive technology, communal gathering spaces, meditation rooms, and comprehensive libraries.   Established bases often feature unique recreational options reflecting local culture or specialized interests. These might include traditional bathhouses in facilities with strong Asian influence, extensive agricultural spaces in Martian installations, or antigravity recreation chambers in orbital facilities.

Orbital and Spaceborne Assets

The organization maintains a substantial fleet serving as both transportation and self-contained operational bases. These vessels range from massive command carriers (2-3 kilometers in length) functioning as mobile headquarters to specialized stealth frigates designed for covert deployment.   All ships incorporate comprehensive life support systems, including hydroponics and protein cultivation facilities. Larger vessels contain manufacturing capabilities, medical centers, training facilities, and dedicated recreational spaces designed to maintain psychological wellbeing during extended missions. Environmental systems mimic natural cycles, with lighting, sound, and even gravity carefully calibrated to counter the potential mental health effects of long-term space deployment.

Operations & Methodology

The Reifier Klamen's operations extend beyond straightforward assassination to encompass various methods of removing corruption from society. Their approach combines rigorous investigation, strategic planning, and precise execution to achieve maximum impact with minimal collateral damage.   Before targeting an individual, the organization conducts exhaustive investigation through its intelligence network. This process often involves Left Hand members in public-facing positions gathering information over extended periods. Only when evidence conclusively demonstrates irredeemable corruption does the organization authorize elimination.   For political targets, the Klamen often employs subtler methods than direct assassination. Members infiltrate social circles, plant strategic rumors, manipulate vulnerable associates, or occasionally influence electoral processes. These approaches allow them to neutralize corrupt influences without the attention direct killing would attract.   In cases of widespread systemic corruption, the organization may deploy multiple cells working in coordination to surgically remove key individuals while simultaneously disrupting supporting infrastructure. Such operations can span months or years, with each action carefully timed to maximize destabilization of corrupt networks while minimizing broader social disruption.   The organization's methodology emphasizes flexibility and adaptation. Field operatives receive extensive training in multiple elimination techniques but are granted significant autonomy in determining specific approaches based on evolving situations. This operational philosophy allows the Klamen to maintain effectiveness across widely varying environments and circumstances throughout the Sol System.

Social Structure & Family Life

Despite their lethal mission, the Reifier Klamen maintain comprehensive social structures that support member wellbeing and organizational continuity. Family units form an integral part of their community, with specific policies regarding relationships, marriage, and child-rearing. Marriage within the organization follows neither mandatory nor forbidden paths—members may choose their relationship structures freely within established frameworks. The organization fully supports both traditional partnerships and polyamorous arrangements, reflecting modern Solar laws that recognize polycule marriages within certain parameters. All legal unions must proceed through official Reifier Klamen channels for administrative and spiritual recognition.   Childbirth remains entirely optional, with no pressure either to reproduce or abstain. For those wishing to start families but unable to bear children, the organization provides adoption and surrogacy options. During periods of declining birth rates, the Klamen may offer family-starting incentives while simultaneously increasing external recruitment efforts to maintain optimal population levels.   Members serving the organization loyally for extended periods may eventually retire from active duty, transitioning to advisory or support roles while maintaining their community connections. This privilege stands in contrast to the treatment of disloyal defectors, who face relentless pursuit and elimination. The organization views such betrayal as an existential threat, with reconditioning attempts rarely pursued due to their inconsistent effectiveness. Few defectors survive more than several years outside the organization's protection.   Children born or adopted into the Reifier Klamen receive comprehensive education that balances organizational needs with individual development. While all receive foundation training in combat, stealth, and organizational philosophy, the system identifies and nurtures specific aptitudes, directing children toward branches and specializations where they can best contribute to the organization's mission.

Demography & Population

The Reifier Klamen maintain approximately four hundred thousand members distributed across Terra, Mars, Venus, and orbital facilities. This population, though substantial, represents only a tiny fraction of the system's overall human population. Their strategic distribution ensures operational capability throughout inhabited space without overextending their resources.   The organization maintains a balanced demographic profile, with roughly equal gender distribution and representation from all major Terran cultural backgrounds. Age distribution skews somewhat younger than the general population due to the physical demands of many roles, particularly within the Right Hand.   Birth rates within the organization average approximately forty children per thousand adult women annually, slightly higher than typical Terran rates but lower than during humanity's pre-spaceflight era. Death rates fluctuate significantly based on mission parameters and extraterrestrial threat levels, particularly correlated with demonic incursion frequency. In most years, birth rates marginally exceed losses, maintaining gradual population growth.   External recruitment supplements natural population increase, with the organization actively identifying and acquiring promising candidates from throughout the Sol System. These recruits undergo comprehensive integration processes designed to instill organizational values and ensure loyalty, with particular emphasis on philosophical alignment with the Klamen's core principles.
