Elytra
Following the discovery of interdimensional travel, the Endermen found themselves faced with a challenge they had never seen before: water. Though they had made boats, they were slow and too close to the water, which was toxic to their skin. Warp technology was not yet developed enough to guarantee safe travel, and that still required initial travel from the start location in order to properly set up. Railways were difficult to build, especially across large bodies of water, and they needed a more efficient way of travel across these large bodies of water.
The endermen saw that the elytrians had no issues crossing bodies of water, and they took inspiration from the elytrians' wings. They fashioned a set of artificial wings that were extremely articulate and sensitive, being able to react to the smallest changes in the muscles on a person's back which allowed them to imitate the same movements as the elytrians. They named this invention "The Elytra". Unfortunately, when the End was closed off, the remaining elytras in the Overworld deteriorated and broke. The materials needed to create an elytra were only found in the End, so no one has been successful in making an elytra ever since.
