Qualifications

The base qualification is an interest in history and cultural development.   Throughout the career progression, the profession requires basic studies of the planet's history as well as its current and past species and cultures. After those base studies, more in-depth studies of the field one wants to base their research topics on are required before any field studies can be planned and made.   Also, a good physique, stamina, and teamwork skills are beneficial for the work on excavation sites.

Research Assistant

The research assistant does the groundwork for research projects. Groundwork research includes information about the time period and the geographical region. During this base research, they gain experience and knowledge that allows them to move up to the in-house researcher position.

In-House Researcher

The in-house researcher deepens the base research in regard to the specific location and the potential situations that the field researcher could discover on-site. They also take care of research about topics that came up during the field research on-site. In-house researchers with three to five years of work experience can move up to the field researcher position.

Field Researcher

The field researcher performs the work on the excavation site. The work needs the utmost diligence and mindfulness that can be straining on body and mind. Also, the excavation sites are often located in remote areas with climate extremes like high heat, cold, and air humidity that require detailed planning to prevent accidents and health impairments. Field researchers with at least two successful excavation projects can move up to the excavation manager position.

Excavation Manager

The excavation manager plans the excavation project and monitors its application. They report directly to the research manager

Restorer

Field researchers with at least three successful excavation projects, excavation managers with one sucessfull excavation project and in-house researchers with at least five years of work experience can move up to the restorer position. Restorers take care of the found relics and reconstruct them if necessary.

Research Manager

Any of the aforementioned positions with at least six years work experience can move up to the research manager position. Research manager plans and oversees the research project.
