Fey Realm Deities

In the Fey Realm, the rise and fall of pantheons is far less novel than it is in the realm of mortals. To modern knowledge, three distinct pantheons have existed in the Fey Realm at different points in history, sometimes overlapping with one another: the Primordials, the Álfir, and the Faerir.   Far more nebulous and animalistic than the deities of later pantheons, the Primordial deities of the Fey Realm represent divine and natural concepts more than they reflect the actual humanoids who worship them. In this way Primordials are not too dissimilar from Titans. At least two Primordials still remain somewhat active participants of their pantheon and function frequently in the spiritual lives of Etherian fey, particularly Elfs: Ulvhara the World Bear, a giant six-horned and rune-scarred bear with a thousand blades from a thousand fallen warriors stuck in its hide that left a swathe of destruction in its wake as it traveled the lands, allegedly hollowing Llychlyn out into its den from its pacing and leaving lakes to fill its paw prints, and Skuld the Great Serpent, an unimaginably long flying serpent whose lethal venom could fell entire armies in a single dose and who, it is said, left tunnels in between the mortal and fey realms called omentracks that can be used to travel between the realms. Many fey but especially modern elves often incorporate ursine and serpentine visual motifs into their clothing and appearances, braiding their hair to look like scales, adorning themselves with ursine teeth, weaving designs to resemble serpent coils, wearing actual snakeskin and bear pelts, etc. It is currently unknown how many other Primordial fey deities still exist and if so, what and where they are, but there is rumor that one, Yulentaskr, a giant semi-feral longhair cat with lambent eyes like hot coals and claws that burn with searing flame, has taken residence as a local patron deity of a remote island off the coast of Jötnir.   Sometime after the rise of the Primordials, the Álfir rose to prominence as fey deities. Ancestors of modern elves, the Álfir reigned long and supreme, their rule characterized by natural reverence, a love for daring and adventure, and a tolerance of non-elven deities. Some millennia ago, though, the Álfir were deposed by the modern pantheon of the Faerir, who killed or imprisoned their leaders, split their race into disparate clans, and left them no other option but to abandon their homeland for the mortal realm.   The current pantheon of the Fey Realm are the Faerir, a particularly cunning, brutal, and iron-fisted family of gods who rule unquestioned in their homeland and whose presence can be felt seeping out into the Alpenwode of the mortal realm. Though their last official contact with Etherians was during violent campaign they led against mortals now called The Wild Hunt, the Faerir never quit lurking on the outskirts of Etherian life, watching, waiting.   Unlike star-hewn deities of the mortal realm like those of The Etherian Pantheon, fey gods shine with auroral light and bear twisting prismatic tattoos of arcane energy on their bodies due to the nature of divinity in the Fey Realm. In addition, fey gods, unlike the Etherian gods who are willed and believed into being, are not inherently divine in the same way; rather, fey gods acquire divinity through the consumption of a rare and closely-guarded fey fruit grown at the heart of the Fey Realm which suffuses them with raw Anima.
