Subdrakken Highlands (soob drahk ken)
The Subdrakken Highlands are a region of Valoreum dominated by ancient conifer forests and massive, old mountains. Though these conifers are similar to modern pines, ginkgoes, and cycads with the forest floor home to plants like lycophytes, mosses, and ferns, though the first two are less common due to the semi-arid tendencies of this region. Despite this, there are two major rivers that flow through this region, one called the River Adamant and the other the River Prismatic, each said to shimmer like jewels. This region lies to the south of Valoreum, being the southern-most region in the continent. With this region's amount of caverns and alpine talus, it is a perfect home for the Subdrakken, a race of stone dragons. In fact, many of these caverns are home to complex cities, built around underground rivers and ever-growing gemstones.
Localized Phenomena
Due to the dual elemental attunement of this region, crystals and rock seem to spring from out of the ground easily, often in large and vast quantities, causing the land to transform regularly, though this doesn't last long due to the harvesting of the locals. When crystal or stone magic is used in this region, the very earth responds to their call and often are much more effective in the region. With this in mind, unfettered use of either magic can cause the face of the land to change.
