Mhat'Thum

The Mhat'Thum is a proffession held in high esteem, as it takes a strong person with a deep mental well who can connect with the mighty Mathomphel. A Mhat'Thum is a ride master, but more than that, they are their beast's greatest friend. They work together to find the safest routes to pass through the many barren environments of Efrithel.

Career

Qualifications

Mhat'Thum are born into the profession, following the footsteps of their parents and great-great-grandparents. Some even still have the same Mathomphel passed down. They develop their special connections with the family herds; ones rented or simply part of the extended family group of the Iron-Head Kravak.

Career Progression

As Mhat'Thums grow stronger in power, they are able to connect to more Mathomphel over a greater area. At first, it's just one, but that one is an absolute mental connection. They can locate each other anywhere in Efrithel, however the connection is quite weak outside of 5 miles. This one often becomes the herd's leader, strengthing the connection of the Ride Master to the rest.
As the Mathomphels they are connected with grow, the general profession rank of the Mhat'Thum will grow as well.
Over many years of active practice, roughly forty to fifty years, a Mhat'Thum will eventually become a Mhat'Tham, or Herd Master.

Other Benefits

Often times, many are gifted with special spell books, usually related to defensive or beast mastery skills. These are considered profession rewards, given to them by elders of their respective Iron-Head Kravak.
