Mathomphel

They are towering mammothlike creature, carrying a great many things upon their backs, or hauling enoromous Kravaks. In great teams they even haul some of the largest Kravak'ets across Efrithel. Their ability for endurance is renowned.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Giant hairy mammoth like creatures. Four tusks that act like a cage to carry heavy objects also help them in defensive situations. The top two tusks curve outward from the top jaw, following the trunk line. Their base jaws are strong, with a huge bone density to support the lower two tusks. These two drop low, then curving out and almost sweeping the ground before coming back in towards the center. The top two curve downward, sitting easily inside the curvature of the other two.
Their towering structure also leads to their endurance, however it's expensive to feed such large creatures. Different sub species require less nutrients, but their size overall is always.. well... mammoth in proportion.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are incredibly expensive to feed, which is why over the years and many generations, ways to decrease the size of their heavy grain and limestone diet. The limestone crushed into small stones and dust, helping with their digestion. The grain, Cinisarundo, is more like a thick ground reed, grown in ashen wastelands. This is the same plant used to weave a Kravak, however it's the leaves that grow from the base that is used for that.

Behaviour

Each are quite individual in their personalities. Some are lazy and grumpy, while others are cheerful and enjoy their work and relationships.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have slight telekinetic powers, mainly in communication with their Riders, or Mhat-Thum. They send messages using emotion and pictures to a fairly specific degree. Some show better control over this than others, and some even show greater powers in controlling others around them.
