Magical Railing

Turning magic into mechanical blood

All of these conduits are linked to the core, and it distributes magic to the entirety of the machine. Yes, it's pretty ridiculous, but it is magic and I don't complain. Mostly for my arm. Technocia used elemental cores that were more effective, but we lost that technology in the Great Fire... Hey ! What did I say about talking in class ?

Magical energy

The technology of Magical Railing is one of the most iconic things of the Kernian Republic. Able to animate powerful machines and save countless lives, it is the retro-engineered descendant of a more potent technology from the past. But despite its rather messy origins, few can deny its effectiveness. From agriculture to medicine to entertainment, it was really a revolution, and improvements to it just keep coming like purer material and more efficient design.

Discovery

While its ancestor dates from as far as the Heroic Age, it was first seen in 134 AS when a Kernian engineer customized an old and cracked Elemental core to harvest the surrounding magic of a sanctified Sahin grove filled with hostile spirits. After a while, the core started glowing while the spirits started to fade away and retreat. After this, other engineers and savants started to create more of them and use them as a replacement to their ever-dwindling supply of Elemental cores. As the Sahins retreated and the need for war diminished, they eventually made machines to harvest food or prosthetics.

Use

The technology is now used in pretty much everything. All of the Meta-enhancers require magic to function, and they have a small Magic core embedded in them for those who can't use magic. As well, the inside of Kernian constructs is a web of conduits linked to a single core. For the upper class, some automated toys use it to give themselves impressive abilities, to the enjoyment of the children.

Railing

Despite its many uses in common life, the technology was first used in warfare. The name comes from the early models of Kernian rifles, whose barrel was lined with circles of Mag-iron to increase the potency of the weapon. Even now, it's common to do the same to the conduits of machines to redirect a portion of the lost energy during the transfer back to the core, extending the effectiveness and life expectancy.
