Illan

The central hub of the Augustian economy and the geographic heart of the country, as well as the home of the Auron Family, Illan is an extremely affluent and well-off city.   Illan was a beautiful city, especially this, the Southeast district. The town was divided into three, each with their own respective mayors answering to the Duke, Farus Auron: The Southeast district, where Hope and Candle had grown up and the largest district, the Southwest district, and the Northern district, which was on the other side of the Vein of the World river running through the city and dividing it in two like a poorly cut pie. The buildings were all constructed of wood and stone from the surrounding countryside, sprawling out across the land and around the riverbanks. Beyond the buildings were miles of farmland working in the dying light to feed the people within and without the walls, enjoying relative prosperity compared to the lands south of them. The markets were all along the river, and clustered close to each other, adjacent to the Duke’s castle walls surrounding his manor at the central point between the districts. There was a wall encircling the town further encircled by a moat drawn from the river, with walls running through the buildings between the districts, relics of a time when the city had been at war with itself in the Millenium of Wickedness.
