Talsila

The city is filled with towers both free standing, built into and carved out of the surrounding mountains. It is considered the elven capital, both highly defendable and in perfect placement for trading by land and sea. It’s controlled by the Elendha, it’s where their headquarters are located and it’s a center for magic, crafting guilds, arts and schools. The elves are quite strict about who is to be let into the city, and so secondary layers have been formed over the years for trading among non-elven kinds.

Industry & Trade

Talsila's main focus is on the craft of its many guilds. The specialize heavily in creation of clothing, weaponry, jewelry, vehicles and other major trades but focus heavily on aesthetics in addition to quality. As such, their crafted goods are touted as the best in the world and few can compete. The city's placement and proximity to other major trading stations such as the dwarven capitol Tar'Thor, the spice capitol of the world Mazyar and the paradise city of Quetzaldira mean most major luxuries are readily available for the right price in Talsila.

History

Talsila has a very rich and extended history, being one of the oldest cities on the continent.

Ancient Ruins

Talsila is one of the few places that never truly died after the ancients were mostly wiped out. Not much is known about the ancient city, but there are ruins still preserved beneath the city streets that hold secrets locked behind a lost language.

Ages of Gods & Chaos

It's recorded that in 2430 AoG, the Elven diety of craftmanship, Entrydal established Talsila out of a desire to show the rest of her pantheon what she could accomplish. Great temples were built, with wonders of architectural design and the city thrived for several millenia.   In 5433 AoCh, the Pantheon War ended abruptly in a cataclysm shook the world. The mountain behind the city erupted in a volanic rage, drowning the city in a black, sulfiric magma, destroying much and burying the rest. When Entrydal beheld the fate of her beloved city, she wept. Her tears were said to have touched the volcano, calming it and as they flowed down it's black sides Entrydal's tears pooled and created Sila Bay. However the surviving elven people of Talsila picked themselves up and began to build again, with Entrydal at their sides showing them how to erase the darkness that had enveloped their world and rebuild a stronger, more beautiful Talsila.

Age of Kings

By the time the current age began, nearly three thousand years ago, Talsila was already a bastion of Elven civilization. The city was a strong candidate for the Estian capitol, however the first Illimyran king chose Arantalduin due to it's more diverse population to appease citizens.

Architecture

The city's wealth is quite apparent within the city's architecture. It's nickname as the shining city comes from their use of silver, gold, marbel and Snowstone as exterior building staples. Most buildings are tall and sleek, with bits of greenery dotting rooftops and windowsills.

Geography

The city surrounds a nearly closed-off bay and is outskirted with mountains making it a contendable fortress. To the north are plains with large farming towns boasting some of the best orchards in the land. To the south, dry lands that support large herds of creatures and predators.
