Morraine Dargrave (MORR-rayn DHAR-grayv)

King Morraine "Elf-Eater" Dargrave

A Chosen of Solan, Morraine was a deadly opponent against the Ae'dari during the Ascendance War. He would later become King of Redor.

Early Life

Very little is known of Morraine's life before the events leading up to the Ascendance War. A slave servant, Morraine grew up under a tyrannical hand. Often would the young man be beaten by his slavers, whether it was as a punishment or for entertainment is unknown, but it would not matter to Morraine. In time Morraine would grow to despise his masters, so much that he would eventually snap.   On the day before the revolt, Morraine would slit the throat of his slavers. As the man was shaving his master's head, he would let temptation take hold and cut his master's scalp. As the man jolted in pain, Morraine restrained him as he slowly slit his throat. So slow, it would take an hour before Morraine reached the other end of his neck. Once the elf had bled out, Morraine walked out of the manor expecting to meet his end.   To his surprise, Vizar would be the first to discover the blood-covered Morraine. However, instead of reporting a man who had so obviously committed a murder, Vizar told the man of his plans to revolt once night arrived.

Slave uprising of An'misarei

At night, Morraine had cut open his Ae'dari master's body and hung the man outside the highest tower of the manor. Noticing the master's body, the guards would immediately storm the tower, to which Morraine would slip out unsuspected. He would later meet up with Armar to begin the revolt. Together, the two would set the western side of the city ablaze, distracting the guards and allowing the slaves to escape east.   In battle, Morraine showed his lack of experience, but what he lack he had shown in savagery. The words of his murderous rage in battle would even reach Ae'dari soldiers. They would come to fear the man, as they discovered not a soldier killing for a cause, but a Human taking pleasure in cutting open elves. Even as the Ae'dari would win the Battle of Redfield and send the men on a retreat into Twinpeak Pass, Morraine would not flee so quickly. Taking his time, he would drag the bodies of fallen Ae'dari. All along the path to Twinpeak Pass, he had hung a hundred elves, all with their innards spilling out of their stomach for all to see. It was during this wait at the pass that Morraine would write a well-known poem, "The Burden of Men".

King of Redor

While Morraine's actions were deemed horrific by many, even Humans, he had gained a plentitude of followers during the war. After the Council of Seven, Morraine would venture east together with his fellow comrades, Christain and Balderick. Morraine would eventually settle himself and his followers on the isle of Redor. In a grand ceremony, Morraine would be crowned King of Redor.
