Imperial Army

The Empire of Amertus is in possession of the only standing army in Estemor. It is comprised of several legions that patrol and defend regions across Imperial territory. Service is voluntary, but seen as a point of pride, as well as advantageous. Many advanced skills can be learned during training and most academies will freely accept veterans as students.
Manning posts across the Empire, the Amertusian military is larger than any other force in the continent while also fielding some of the most advanced technology, all developed from designs and artifacts salvaged from the Fallen Empire of Yora. In peacetime, their logistical prowess supports settlements across the entire realm.

Composition

The Army is organized into Legions that typically contain between four and six thousand soldiers. Each Legion is designated by a number and a simple title along with identifiable heraldry. The numbers of legions that have been annihilated in combat or were brought tremendous dishonor are in effect retired. As of 908, there are eighteen active legions.

Equipment

After centuries of research and collection of old Yoran artifacts, the tireless work of academics have blossomed into many fruitful developments for the military. Advanced weapon and armor schematics, magically-infused technology and even some automated golems are all the keys to Imperial supremacy. That said, advanced equipment is typically reserved for elite units that can be trusted with it. Such gear must be kept out of enemy hands at any cost.

Structure

The entire Army is organized into Legions, which typically comprise of four to six thousand soldiers, further organized into cohorts and companies intended to serve specific functions in combat. When on the march, a legion can be accompanied by a sizable number of support staff to transport equipment, establish temporary base camps, provide healing and many other tasks.

Training

Training takes at least six months as new recruits must meet a threshold for physical aptitude, weapon proficiency and general education. After serving for six months, they are eligible for promotions and advanced training in various fields, such as leadership or magic.
