Fallen Empire of Yora

The civilization that controlled all of Estemor long ago. It went by many names, but is generally referred to as Yora or the People of Yore. Depending on who one asks, this ancient nation was either the pinnacle of mankind or an all-consuming land of sin that inevitably fell apart.   Its advanced technology was its most defining feature, given how much of it lies buried beneath the ground. Few understand how it any worked, let alone how it was built. While some try to uncover these secrets and take what they can for themselves, others shun it and wish to keep such dangerous tools sealed away.   What exactly happened to cause the fall of Yora is not clear. Much of what has been written concerns the Saints' War, which concluded by ushering in an age of darkness upon the fragmented land. Before that conflict, it is unknown if Yora was truly in a state of decline as the Church of Solidus claims.

Structure

The government of Yora appears to have shifted at several points, but ultimately remained unified under a single leader. For simplicity's sake, it is often referred to as an Empire.

History

How and when Yora was founded is surely lost to time as is much of their history. All that remains is what it was like near its end. Even then, so much of it was destroyed through war and neglect. It may be shrouded in mystery forever.

Disbandment

The battles near the end of the Saints' War were believed to be especially cataclysmic. By the time the last city fell, much of Estemor was scorched by warfare, especially given the inconceivable power of their weaponry.
