The Weird and the Wonderful Tavern

Ownership:

The Weird and Wonderful Tavern (TWAWT), owned by Janis Easterly, lives up to every bit of its name and reputation.  Most of its contents are not meant for the lighthearted but instead the bold and daring. The large ship floats at the center of the flotilla and operates as a base of trade designed to satisfy the natural curiosities of its goblin populations.  However, due to the fragile nature of the flotilla, the TWAWT does not allow any items, weapons, or spells that are fire-based.  As one of the premier offenses that can be committed, being in possession of a fire-based armament while on the flotilla can carry a heavy sentence, starting with being banned from the flotilla and ending with capital punishment.

History & Lore:

TWAWT has something of a reputation for providing tinkerers with essential elements that are not only hard to come by but somewhat atypical, Alchemists and herbologists can find any number of rare plants from around Espen and leatherworkers can find the rarest hides from which to craft any number of appeal and armor.  As the flagship of the flotilla, most goblins have a genuine reverence for TWAWT's ability to have survived the initial flooding that occurred forcing the flotilla's creation.  However, this reverence is occasionally tempered by the high tariffs inflicted on ships docking with the flotilla.  In the past 4 years, the tariffs have increased by nearly 20%.   The tavern itself not only has some of the strangest items, weapons, and armor anywhere in Espen, it also has its own brand of ...unique...alcoholic beverages, including one that is called the Bitter Anise.    Once Nattan Mal's debt was officially paid off, trade routes between The Grand Baazar and TWAWT were established which significantly increased the profitability of both locations and allowed demand for rarer items to be met. Once other tradesmen saw the level of profit to be made on the flotilla, it became a regular trade route along the eastern seaboard of Espen.
