Ownership

    Pico Quartermane found Vil's explanation to be lacking in merit and the greatest of insults. It was a clear slight aimed at Nattan Mal, the goblins who call it home, and the Quartermanes specifically. Such insults could not stand. Aside from sending caravans south to protest outside of various houses of healings, Pico set out to accomplish the rare task of collaborating between goblin clans. Drawing in the Mandlebaums for funding, the Gobbleblights for food and the Easterlys for logistics and supplies the Pico Quartermane and his brother Sinjin Quartermane began hoarding healing tomes, studying practices that some deem questionable. Sinjin, an accomplished necromancer has become the go-to source for healing and potions in Nattan Mal.  

History & Lore

  Their focus on arts that some call darker has led to many of the houses of healing and hospitals pulling further away calling their practices barbaric and archaic. This has not prevented many goblins from utilizing the Onyx Vale as a resource and many others from beginning their own studies in the Necromancy. While this has led to a rise in necromancy-related deaths it has also produced a fair amount of more than capable practitioners.   The Quartermane's assistance in using Necromantic Arts has also had an increased effect on their sensitivity to light. As such the Onyx Vale keeps very few torches lit and those that are lit are encased in stained glass to dim their light.  Bringing bright or radiant energy into the Vale is a punishable offense and a guaranteed way to be refused service.
