The Major 12

Espen is a diverse biome with varied life, flora, and fauna. From this diverse biome, 12 cities have risen above all others, they represent the best the world has to offer in engineering, planning, and construction. Each is surrounded by massive walls, some of which have stood the test of time and war—others, newer, brought forth by fortune, progressive shining cities on a hill.
Each city has its own unique flair, landmarks, and cultural oddities.  With political, cultural, and religious power structures changing from city to city, most major metropolitan areas have adopted the Rousarian Engineering Model (or REM) for city design and layout.  This creates a unified centralized district with four districts, grouped in the cardinal directions through gridded streets and causeways. This allows a dwarf from Nin to enter the central region of Twinnam and still be able to navigate with relative ease.
