The Bank of Espen at Tanalier

History & Lore

Goblins can on occasion be known for their opulence. The best example of this is the North Goblin Annex and the Bank of Espen at Tanalier. As one of the newer banks in Espen, Goblin leadership wanted to make a statement with not only the location but the experience. Decorated with the finest tapestries, armor, weapons, and artwork; it's commonplace for some individuals to simply visit the bank just to see the ornate sights.   The bank itself has become a regular host of galas and high society events. To ensure that the artwork always enthralls and excites its patrons, many of the profits of the bank are spent on commissions for new pieces. Surprisingly the bank's gallery rivals the offerings at many museums around Espen. Currently on display are:
  • 3 Genasi Spectrum Monastery Tapestries
  • 12 Inez Cicle Watercolor
  • Slate/Brass Sculptures entitled 'Elders Past'
  • The Coiled Pearl Necklace (Under Guard)
  • d'bruco's oil series 'Pra'Shad after Dark' (Under Guard)
  • Dwarven Apostle Cornets & Crowns (Under Guard)
  • The Entire Brickbriar Collection (Private Room/Under Guard)

Management

Inkbane the current manager has an eye for fine art, so much in fact that he made over 20,000 GP dealing in fakes, forgeries, knockoffs, and counterfeits. Though his real name is unknown to most, his title, Inkbane, has come to be synonymous with both fine, curated, priceless works of art and marginal, flawed, worthless pieces of art.   In what came to be known as the Sunrise Heist, Inkbane attended a gala in Everhold City. With him he brought 3 Brickbriar Original Paintings. This was of course the talk of the evening as no one had seen Gioval Brickbriar since his caravan was amused months ago. The paintings were said to be of exquisite quality, something that far outstripped his previous work which was on display that very night. Each of the new paintings dubbed 'Pneusai collection' was said to fetch such high prices that many collectors began offering not only gold but other works by Brickbriar to compensate.   In the end Inkbane sold each of the paintings to three different dealers in exchange for 150,000 GP, and all other Brickbriar originals in their collections. It wasn't until the dealings were concluded and the sun came up that anyone had realized that in the light of day the paint would reliquify and run from the cured canvas, leaving nothing but blanks. Today Inkbane owns all Brickbriar orignals, and as many suspect, Brickbriar himself.
Note: In a final snub to the art world, it was discovered that Pneusai is Old Goblin for false.
