Sunken Chapel

History & Lore

Originally built using strong Gnomish magic, the Gnomish council sought to create a magnificent wonder of the world. As they constructed Royce Chapel literally resting atop the waves, using enchantments to keep the structure from being overtaken by the sea. However, during the Tabaxi Tumult, a 10 year period of hostilities with a neighboring Tabaxi union, the chapel’s magic was disrupted. Slowly it began to sink into the sea until it rested on the seafloor of Whistlepark Bay. The response by the Gnomish Council was swift and unrelenting as they sent a legion of Shimmering Hand to the gates of the village with a simple message. Vacate the village or it will be burned to the ground.
Over the next month the Tabaxi in the village either fled back to Evergreen Deep or swore fealty to the Gnomish Council and Twiddlewyren. In the end the village became a thriving part of the Gnomish landscape as many Gnomes moved into the area to ensure both profitability and loyalty.
Today the bottom half of the sunken chapel still sits on the sea floor and while access is strictly restricted to high loyal Irradeascents, the upper vestibule and adjoining sanctuary is still open to the public.

Hands of Mazzu

Quatros Miaz is currently serving as the Hand of Mazzu, Water Genasi paladin whose zealotry is both inspiring and intimidating. As he has been known to take a hardline on what he deems as heretics. Though the Tabaxi Tumult is long past, Quatros insists on keeping armed guards on patrol outside and inside the chapel.
Quatros studied exclusively in gnomish territories and is one of the more outspoken opponents to the Ashen Lighthouse believing that any holy site for Irradeascents should be exclusive to Irradeascents (and in some cases Gnomish people). He has also advocated for the two site solutions in which divides Tanalier bilaterally reserving half for the Ashens and their holy site and half for the Irradeascents and their holy site. This plan has been widely rejected by both the Gnomish Council and Ashen Elders.
