Spiked Blue Melocactus

Botanist Findings:

The Blue Melocactus is a highly desired but rarely found fruilt.  With sporadic growing season highly dependent on the variable state of the Shabazz Desert & The Broken Lands respective climates, it is almost impossible to predict where they will pop up.  So named for is spherical shape and fine needles it looks deceptively soft and deceptivly ...."melony".  Its needles, make harvesting this particular plant rather difficult, as during the dry season the cactus contacts; leaving the needles little a fraction of the space they had before and the slightest touch can send up to 50 needles out in all directions with enough force to maim and occasionally kill.     Thought to be a myth until 20 years ago when a desperate traveller suffering from exhaution, dehydration, and delirum cracked one open with rock.  Doing so cost him and eye and a few fingers but the discover of the sweet pulpy fruit in the center made the endavor more than worth it.

Horticultural Findings:

No domestication attempts are currently known at this time, as the prospect of more than one of these plants in close proximity to one another could end in disaster for all but the best farmers.  Though agricutural uses are few, there are a few documented uses as weaponry when these plants were (carefully) flung into enemy encampments preceeding an attack.
