Goldenrod Essence

Botanist Findings

The Goldenrod is one of the most common plants in Espen they grow in nearly any climate provided there has been recent rainfall. During a drought, they tend to spring up as indicators of underground aquifers which earned them the nickname "wellwater flowers."   Due to their high water demands, they produce a sap to hold excess water that coats the plant stem. This sap can be extracted into Goldenrod Essence, although the process is labor-intensive and requires specialized equipment.

Horticultural Finding

They are traditionally domesticated in more temperate climates and are great for pollinating local flora as they are a favorite of bees. While the Goldenrod flower is also used in decoration many find that the sap produced by the plant is a deterrent to it being used in larger gatherings. A small percent of the population have a severe Goldenrod allergy which can cause severe sneezing, watery eyes, and blurred vision.

Herbalism

Goldenrod Essence is used in a number of potions and salves for its binding properties and sweet taste. In culinary circles, it has also been used as a honey alternative in areas where keeping bees is impractical.
