Days of the Nightshade Poppy / 4 Days In Primrose

History:

Nightshade Poppy was thought to widely be harmless until one 4 night period in the Elvish town of Radewane, a clutch of Nightshade Poppies made it into the local grain supply. The elves were celebrating the Rite of the Earth festival which includes the making of Red Bread a dessert made from mulled wine.   Researchers would later find that the mix of active yeast, mulled wine, and Nightshade Poppy had an adverse effect on Elvish physiology. As the festival begin shrieks of terror rang out, and many of the partygoers emerged maddened by the poppy's effects and locked into an irreversible blood rage.   For four days the quiet town of Radeswane was bathed in the blood of its citizens until one solitary Elf remained feral and murderous. When help finally arrived in the town 4 days after the poppy incident, he had all but scattered off. Since that day the use of all poppies in food has been outlawed by the Elvish union and the baking of Red Bread is strictly prohibited.   Though many believe the lone surviving Elf driven mad by the ordeal still frequents the woods around where Radeswane used to be, hungry for bread and another victim.

Drow consider the remembrance of this date in celebration, when the hubris of High Elves got the best of them, as Drow had always abstained from Nightshade Poppy for religious reasons.
