Blackrock Mining

History:

The cataclysm that nearly destroyed the entire city was considered one of the worst natural disasters in Espen, but found among the decimated city was its key to staving off complete disaster.  When the 5 volcanos surrounding Blackpool erupted they covered they rained down molten lava and rock, but they also split the earth leaving a canyon between the two largest volcanos.
As the reconstruction began, it was discovered that the volcanos were a near-endless source of Obsidian.  A rare and honored stone among those who worship The Old Gods. The residents of Blackpool (espically the Far'Wa family), capitalized on finding the substantial stores of obsidian by setting up mining operations that were immediatly profitable and highly lucrative.

Ownership:

Kindrak Far'Wa, the now deceased patriarch of the Far'Wa family sold nearly everything he owned to afford to purchase the rights to the two largest mountains around Blackpool. Doing so has net the family substantial gains and has made the Far'Wa's the richest family is Blackpool and one of the richest families in the south.  Today his great grand daughter Gamma Far'Wa operates Far'Wa namesake and has expanded 3 fold the scale of their mining operations.
