Mazzu's love for Ashenvale was so great that she pushed back the foliage in search of her love, rivers winding in search of Ashenvale who had hidden herself in Espen's forests. History & Lore

The Ashen Lighthouse is a not only an engineering marvel but a cultural one as well. As one of two religious sites in Espen that serves multiple religious gatherings, the Lighthouse is occasionally a source of contention for both Irradeascents and Ashens. However, Tanalier having the highest concentration of Sea Elves anywhere outside of the Drowned Isles possibly played into their decisions as the Elders sought to avoid any further schism within their ranks. Though at the time Ashen Elders saw this as a cultural victory, the tension it has created has caused some to wonder if joint religious opportunities were a mistake.
The design of the Ashen Lighthouse is entirely a Gnomish engineering feat, as the largest lighthouse and second tallest tower (only behind the Tower of the Ashen Elders itself) in Espen, the Gnomes saw this sacred spot as something worthy of the grandure the lighthouse inspires. Tanalier's history as a sanctuary city for refugees not only encouraged a boom to the Gnomish population but engineering and Arcane prowess within the city.

Hand of Mazzu / Ashen Sheik

As a servent of two religions, the ranking official of the Ashen Lighthouse must be ordained by both the Ashen Elders and the Gnomish Council. While a member of either faith can be nominated, the last 3 confirmed have been Elves. The current Hand of Mazzu and Ashen Sheik is Icura Testo, a sea elf from one of Tanalier's many fishing villages.
Icura studied at the Uriyra Research Observatory in Evolir and The Great Library in Spritzlewerks, steeping her in both cultures. Further, her marriage to a Gnomish robe maker, further solidified the Gnomish Councils' faith in her ability to navigate the social-cultural ensnarements that others have fallen victim to in her role.
