Greenholme Greenhouse & Inn

History & Lore

Known for their spice Kamala Root Extract, the Greenholmes delivered their product with an Haute Naturël approach. Taking this methodology from dwarven brewing techniques the Elves produce small-batch Kamala room, cured with a variety of flavors and tonics. Each batch of Kamala Room can be harvested 24 months after its planted, curing takes anywhere from 14-48 days depending on the species of the root. Once cured, the Kamala Room can be ground into a powdered substance for easy travel, distilled into oil for additions to teas and coffees, or mixed into a paste to create a chewy, albeit bitter gum.   Proponents of Kamala Root, are primarily Arcanix (Anti-magic) who believe that healing should take place naturally through herbal medicines, not magic spells and blessings. Though many of them swear by its healing properties, to date no scientific evidence has been identified proving its medicinal effects. It's widely believed to be simply a recreational substance that can provide a euphoric, time-dilated experience for the user.

Ownership

The current owner of the Greenhouse is Cera Greenholme, the eldest daughter of Usana Greenholme. Cera showed a high aptitude in her studies for the rare and temperamental Kamala Root which requires a constant flow of running water and gravely soil. The plant's specific conditions for growth are why so little Kamala can be found in the wild. Cera's botany skills have been responsible for 5 new strains, 3 new flavors, and a Kamala-based balm.   The Greenhouse itself is inherited by the eldest Greenholme of every generation having been passed down from Ruben Greenholme himself. A herbologist and alchemist by trade, elevated to Elder by the ancient order of Ashen Savages. As one of the longest-standing structures in Espen, vines and ivy wrap around nearly all the building, save the windows of the greenhouse, allowing it to truly earn its name.   Fetching a fairly substantial price during normal times, in the case of droughts, Kamala root prices can rise to nearly 250 GP per pound.  At Redux Auction house, a rare species of root found growing wild in the northern climbs of Espen just outside of Mithrigal auctioned for 6,295 GP, breaking the 582 year record for most expensive flora (per oz).  Prices such as this are the reason for the more recent expansion to the greenhouse including a 22 bedroom inn.
