Drow

Drow were first discovered during The Ascend, when Netarr lead them out of the Underdark in order to take over The Surface.

Creation & History

Allegedly made from the same magic that created Eslar in the first place, they are close relatives of Elves, while not being directly descended from them. For the first five thousand years Drow were immortal until Vesemir gifted them the ability to die during Netarr 's second attempt at taking The Surface. There are rumors of the original immortal Drow still existing out there in the deepest layers of the Underdark, but those rumors have never been proven.
Since defeat of Netarr, Drow have been forced back to the Underdark and to this day not many have been seen on the surface. Those who do end up on the surface suffer from Sun Sickness but often posses incredible talent for arcane craft.

Reproduction

Similar to their Surface counterparts Drow's reproductive period falls between 110 and 280, and even during those 170 years most Drow have trouble conceiving. Drow are also, similar to other Underdark species, are extremely suseptable to arcane mutation.

Appearance

Drow appearance varies, but here are the common traits that are used to recognize a drow:

Pointy Ears

Most Drow, similar to their Surface counterparts possess pointy ears, it is typically speculated that the size of the Drow's ear is indicative of the amount of Magic they can produce. This is a rumor and there is actually has been no correlation found between the size of Drow's ears and the amount of Magic they can wield.

Slender Features

Drows typically posses slender features, once again similar to their Surface counterparts. However unlike Elves they often possess more muscle if they were raised in the Underdark's harsh environment.

Common Skin Tones

Drow's skin is often dark, commonly in the shades of blues and purples. This is not the typical melanin that affects Surface dwellers and instead is an evolutionary reaction to the Underdark's excess of elemental magic. The early stories of the Ascend state that the original Drow possessed pale white skin that seemed almost translucent at times.

Hair

Drow's hair is usually straight and silky. Many Drow prefer their hair short regardless of their gender as it is less tiresome to deal with in the harsh environment of the Underdark.
Common Hair Colors

Eyes

Drow typically have rather wide cornea that seems to take up the whole eye, in reality their eye color is just so pale that one can mistake it for white sometimes. Plus the eye itself is typically smaller and thinner than Elves.
