Meeting the Legion

As Mira was putting the mop away, she looked up to see Han exiting the kitchen. He was taking off his apron when he stops and stares at her, "why are you still here? Mopping doesn't take this long." Mira bites her lip, "I was hoping you could walk me home. You know... with all the murders that have been going on." Han rolls his eyes and replies, "You're an elf! Aren't you like a thousand years old? And you're scared of the dark?"   "It's not the dark that I am worried about its the fact that people have been dying out there!" Mira explained, "And I am 87, elves don't live to be a thousand. They -"   "Okay, well I don't care!" Han interrupts, "It's not my problem that your scared and want a big strong human to protect you because I have a date tonight. I don't want to waste my time walking you home cause you're too scared to walk outside after dark!"   Mira shakes her head, "A date? At this time of night? What kind of..." she pauses, "Never mind, ew!" He laughed and started to walk out the door. "See you tomorrow Mira, if the monsters don't get you" He imitates ghostly moaning before laughing again as the door closes behind him. Frustrated, Mira starts to walk to the door but stops once she reaches it. She takes a deep breath and steps out into the night air.   Even though the moon was full and her innate ability to see in the dark was still working, Mira still had a feeling of unease. Jumping at even the smallest of noises, she quickened her pace, desperate to get home. As Mira rounds around a corner, she saw a silhouette of a figure leaning on the wall next to an alleyway. As the figure perks up noticing her, Mira gives a small yelp before running the other direction. While she wasn't sure what exactly about the figure caused her to be so frightened, but every fiber in her being urged her to run. So she ran, as fast as she could, so fast that she was unable to stop herself when a human came around the corner directly in her path. The two ended up colliding with each other falling to the ground.   "Are you out of your mind? Why the hell are you running that fast? You coul-" the man started before seeing the look for pure terror on Mira's face. "By the gods, you look like you've seen a ghost. Are you okay? What are you running from?"   She glances behind her to see if the figure followed her but saw no one. "N-n-nothing, I'm sorry. I need to go," she exclaimed as she got to her feet. The man grabs her arm "Seriously, what's wrong, let me help you. I can -"   "NO! LET ME GO!" Mira screamed, pushing the man off her. "Wait!" the man shouted as she ran, chasing after her.   Mira ran as fast as she could, now very much aware of someone chasing her. That fear gave Mira a burst of adrenaline to run faster than she ever ran in her life. Her lungs screamed in pain, but she didn't care. She had to get to safety. She had to escape.   Dashing down the street, Mira rounded the corner for the final stretch to her home. She only had a short period to get inside before the human would reach the corner. She had to get inside. Reaching the door, Mira fumbled with the keys before dropping them. She swore, picking them up and jammed the key into the lock to open the door. As she ran inside, Mira slammed and locked the door behind her. Struggling to catch her breath, she makes her way to the window and peeks out the curtain.   The man was running past before he slowed down. He takes in his surroundings looking for Mira before taking off at a jog again, moving past Mira's window without seeing her. Still catching her breath, Mira collapses to the ground, tears in her eyes. Every night seems to be worse than the last. She didn't know what to do anymore.
Han was walking along that night with his date under his arm. She was one of his more recent conquests, so he still has yet to remember her name, but that didn't matter to Han. He was fuckin hot, and based on how often he was getting groped, she thought so too. He returned the favor smiling as she inhaled sharply, clearly aroused. This one will take a while before he gets bored, might even last a month. She starts to pull him towards an alley, "this way's a short cut" she says "Watchers like to patrol up ahead and I don't want to wait any longer than I have too" Han's smile grows wider as he grabs at her chest. She giggles, "Not yet. Don't worry, we're close," and they continue to move down the ally.   Han was mostly allowing his mind to wander but was brought back to reality with the sound of a bottle breaking behind him. He turned and saw a hooded figure behind them, following. "We're being followed," he tells her. His date glances back and grows pale as she sees the figure. "Come on, let's hurry," she says, quickening her pace, Han takes her by the hand and matches her speed. He looks back and sees that the figure has quickened his pace as well, matching their speed. Ahead, another figure comes around the corner and stops in front of them, blocking their path. Hal quickly glances back and sees the other figure slow to a stop. Both figures were close enough now that Hal could see that they were wearing masks. The one in front wearing a black mask with a white skull painted on the front, the one behind had a crudely drawn smiley face with a toothy grin on it. "Stay back," Hal shouted with a trembling voice, "I'm a student at the Evocation college, and if you come any closer, I'll -." A sharp pain interrupted Hal causing him to cry out. He looked down to see his date, who was now wearing a mask, pull a dagger from his gut.   Hal stumbles back clutching his bloody side, "wha-" he tried to speak, but the pain was fogging his mind. The other two figures move in to flank Hal to block any escape route while also pulling out daggers of their own. His date looks down him from behind the mask, head tilted to the side. Hal falls to one knee, "Why?" he asks. She gets down to his level and brushes his hair behind his head, caressing his cheek. Then she stabbed him again. The other two leap in and start stabbing Hal, over and over and over again. He coughs up blood as he lays on the ground dying, unable to comprehend the pain before his vision goes dark.
She stabs Hal a few more time before standing up to admire her work. The Leader puts his hand on her shoulder. "What name did you give him?" he asks. She looks up "A fake one, but with all the pet names he was giving me I put 50 gold that he forgot it." The Leader stares at her for a moment before looking at the other one and nodding. The one with the smiling mask immediately takes off, parkouring to the roof fleeing the area. "Come," the Leader says, walking away from Hal's body. "It's time for your initiation." She nods following behind him, and while the mask hid it, she was smiling the whole way.
