Teriethae - The Nurturing Grove
Terithae sheltered our people in their infancy, taught us in our adolescence, and directed us to teach in our maturity. Under her guidance we built a great civilization, and only she can lead us there again
One of the two primary gods of the elven pantheon, Terithae is a nature god who represents the nurturing, lifegiving aspect of nature, as well as the creation of art, importance of family, and need to spread knowledge rather than hoard it. Today her worship has fallen out of favor among the elves, but she is still widely worshipped among half-elves and the hînoidór.
History
The goddess of creation, family, knowledge, and the nurturing, lifegiving aspect of nature, Teriethae was once worshipped alongside her husband and opposing aspect Fhaarauth but by the peak of the elven civilization, she was the primary god of the elven people. Teriethae's teachings emphasize the gathering and sharing of knowledge, creation of art, and nature as a nurturing giver of life. Living by her teachings, at the peak of their civilization the elves were well known for sharing their knowledge freely among the younger races and welcoming anyone who wanted to learn from them. Under her influence, elven cities became multicultural hubs with a dozen languages spoken on every street corner, and elven became a lingua franca.
Today, the worship of Teriethae is only common among half-elves, hînoidór, and the elves who live among them. Between the rise of the Serpentfolk, the fall of the elven civilization, and their rejection by the human kingdoms which now dominate The Shattered Continent, worship of Teriethae has been nearly entirely displaced by worship of her husband. Within elven society, her worshippers still advocate for reaching out to the younger races and resuming their role as mentors, but they are largely drowned out by more xenophobic and martially inclined voices.
