Borja - The Librarian
We all search endlessly for the smallest hint to the location of Her library, but even if we never find it in our lifetimes we can rest easy knowing that we have uncovered lost and forgotten knowledge during our search and brought it back into the light.
Borja is well known as a god of magic, but she is just as much a god of knowledge and learning. Hoarding knowledge is anathema to her, as she mandates that all knowledge should be shared so it can be built upon and more discoveries can be made. Her crowning achievement in life was the creation of a library which was available to anyone who brought something to contribute to it, and which disappeared along with her during her ascendancy in order to preserve it from attacking warlords. She is worshipped by academically minded spellcasters as well as librarians, archivists, and scribes across the continent.
Mortal Life
The daughter of a wizard lord in Galacia, Borja had an insatiable thirst for learning and was tremendously irritated by the fact that most wizards seemed to hoard their knowledge in their towers, guarding it jealously. She worked to amass a collection of books on all topics, but with an emphasis on arcane knowlege, paying people to canvass shops across the Great Inland Sea region. Once her collection was large enough, she made it open to all but with a price for admission. Anyone who wanted access to her library needed to bring something to contribute to it, whether that be scrolls, books, or knowledge recorded in some other form.
As the years went on, her collection grew to the point that it was claimed to be the largest on the Shattered Continent, and as the arcane knowlege contained within it grew, so did the arcane protections on it until it rivaled or surpassed any wizards tower. Eventually, during one of the many wars which engulfed the region, a warlord who would become known as Gonzalo the Ignorant set his sights on the library in an attempt to claim it as his own and deny its knowledge to any potential rivals. When his first envoy was unceremoniously ejected from the building, he was enraged and marched on the library at the head of his army.
Gonzalo would soon discover that the library was no easy target as it's magical defenses ravaged his army, and he sought out arcane assistance. With the promise of free and unlimited access to the knowledge contained within, he soon assembled a cabal of powerful arcane casters who began to pick apart the many layers of arcane power protecting the library. Finally, they told Gonzalo that they were about to crack the final layer, but as the defenses fell with a thunderous crack, the library seemed to splinter like a cracked mirror before the pieces separated and began to disappear in swirls of multicolored magic. In moments, the building was gone, leaving a gaping hole in the landscape where it once stood.
Little is known of what happened to Borja between the shattering and her ascension, but the legend of the library of Borja spread further after it's disappearance than ever before, growing with each telling until it had become a collection of legendary size containing all knowledge known to man, accessible to any who could find it's location. Some legends claim that it has splintered, with each shard existing on their own demiplane, the entrances hidden across the planes. As its legend grew, so did Borjas, becoming the all knowing librarian, able to freely transit between the shards and retrieve any knowledge that has ever existed for anyone who could win a boon from her.
Worship
Borja is commonly worshipped by arcane casters with an academic bent, but also finds worshippers among the ranks of librarians, archivists, and researchers across The Shattered Continent. Publically accessible libraries are still rare, but each and every one that is known of in the The Great Inland Sea region was created and is maintained by devotees of Borja.
The Seekers of Knowledge
While there are certainly plenty of individuals who would like to find Borja's Library for less than altruistic reasons, there are a subset of worshippers of Borja who regard the search for the library as a kind of eternal pilgrimage. These individuals tirelessly seek out any hint of hidden repositories of knowledge with the hopes of locating even a fragment of the original library. Thus far no hint of the library has been found, but a great many stores of hidden and lost knowledge have been found and given to libraries across the continent.
