Reidgotaland
Reidgotaland lies south of Sviarland and north of Hunaland. The land is inhabited primarily by two tribes, the Dani and the Jutes.
Reidgotaland remains largely united, save for kingdom of the Niflungar, centered on Samsey but spreading outward. The Niflungar have been on the rise for the past fifty years, slowly spreading to other islands and subtly increasing their influence. Their magical power prevented any attempt by Healfdene to conquer their lands.
In addition to a mainland Jutland peninsula, over four hundred islands comprise Reidgotaland. Its people are excellent seafarers, navigating the treacherous Morimarusa for trade, plunder, and fishing.
History
Until recently, Reidgotaland was home to numerous tribes and petty kingdoms. Most of these kingdoms were conquered by Healfdene, son of Frothi.
Inspiration Notes
Reidgotaland is the name for what would be Denmark. In Norse sagas, Reidgotaland is a realm mentioned in numerous sources, all of which contradict one another about its location. One of those possible locations is Denmark, which is basically the tract I’ve taken here.
