Orcs

The orcs are a tall, muscular race of humanoids hailing from a forested, mountainous continent. With grab, greenish skin, pointed fangs protruding from the corners of their mouths, and hair of various styles in earthen and stone-colored shades they are a fearsome sight to those unfamiliar with the species. All the better to intimidate those they face on the battlefield.   Hefty axes, warhammers, scimitars, and pikes are all varieties of weapons utilized in their conquest. The restricting conditions of life in Ersterwald, however, have forced them to consolidate the types created. Quality armor is also a premium item, with most warriors only able to acquire a set of shoulder guards and young warriors proudly wearing the helmets of their fathers who have fallen before them to the forest.   As a whole they hold to a warrior culture and as such strength begets much respect among them. They are a proud people, holding resolutely to their ways and while they rarely adopt outside customs for themselves, with time they can grow to appreciate how certain other races choose to live. Centuries of wars between tribes have continually hardened them against many afflictions, though nothing could prepare them for what awaited in Ersterwald. Even the mightiest froze in their tracks at the sight of the beasts that invaded the The First Encampment in the forest the fateful night it was destroyed.   Having arrived on the southern shore of Ersterwald, the orcs were quickly taken by the bounty the forest appeared to offer through the many edible plants and small game. What hostile creatures were first encountered posed little threat to their war machine force. Initially numbering around 5000 individuals, the orcs thought themselves prepared for whatever dangers awaited. Made overconfident by what they initially faced, The First Encampment was lightly reinforced with only intermittent temporary barricades. In the attack, over ⅓ of their number was lost throughout that night. Losses between this time and their alliance with the gnomes, including the loss of the The Second Encampment dwindled their numbers near 1000 and more have been lost since in the defense of Gadael.
