Bombarders

The Emperor's armies are renowned for including a variety of strange and terrifying special units. Clad in crude but effective armour plating and wielding huge spiked warhammers, the Bombarders, or Armoured Ogres, are the heaviest infantry the Empire can put to the field. A careful breeding programme has helped produce some of the largest and strongest members of their species, and magical conditioning has hammered a sense of basic loyalty and obedience into their crude minds.
Due to their size and ability to shrug off a great deal more damage than their lesser humanoid comrades, the bombarders are often deployed to those areas of the battlefield where the fighting is thickest. Those with at least a shred of caution or accuracy are even deployed wielding hand-held ballista, to often devastating effect.
