Altharademer
Literally translating into "The Children of Altharad", the people colloquially known as the "Altharadi Elves" have existed in some form or another on the continent of Altharad for over three thousand years. In their current iteration, they are composed of four distinct clans, each with their own subtle genetic variances; the Belrinthorn, the Edelothan, the Solasemir and the Rhovegnos. The fifth, the Eraladain, have been rendered all but extinct following the Midaevian Invasion and subsequent purge.
Before the arrival of the Empire, they were the dominant race on Altharad. Though their numbers were small compared to the teeming multitudes of humans, dwarves, halflings and others that populate Erru, they lived in a state of harmony with their land, burgeoned by their race's potent magical ability and their alliances with the other factions on Altharad, particularly the metallic dragons and the centaur tribes.
However, the Empire's arrival had many far reaching consequences. Bolstered by the losses their enemy had suffered during the war, the Realm of the Frost Giants , so long kept at bay by the strength of the Elves, started to push beyond the natural border of the Snowthorn Mountains, armed and armoured by the vindictive duergar of Khazar Irund.
To the east, the Cult of Xuvarenveroth began to spread their influence into the broken-hearts of the Solasemir, seeding the Principality with pockets of dragon-worshipping fanatics.
With enemies threatening them from without and within, many among the Altharademer have begun to wonder if anything can be done to prevent the slow decline of their civilisation, or if they should simply accept the inevitable.
Others, however, would choose to maintain a small spark of hope, particularly as rumours grow that there exists somewhere in Erru a potential heir to the throne of Carraig Adhainn, a hope they pursue relentlessly, for despite their despair and sorrow, were the King of the Altharademer to return, every Altharadi Elf on the continent would rise to their feet, weapon in hand, and fight with renewed passion to retake their homeland.
