Merchants' Guild, The

The Merchants' Guild is an almost four-hundred-year-old guild that has monopolized many sides of legal trade in the civilized parts of Faerun, including Waterdeep and Secomber. This guild is the richest known business in the world, with its multiple monopolies over agriculture, smithing, alchemy, and finance. Their funds exceed 100,000,000 gold pieces, allowing them to use only the highest quality materials for their trade and employees.

Structure

The guild leader sits at the top of the guild, governing the financial works of the entire guild. Below that sit the governors, who deal with the taxing and profit gain of each specific settlement with trade under the jurisdiction of The Merchants' Guild. The managers are the next rung down on the corporate ladder, directing specific marketplaces and taxing the people selling in their prime taxed markets.

Culture

The members of The Merchants' Guild usually focus on profit more than anything else in life, esteeming an effort-to-profit ratio for work, and managing their time wisely.

Assets

Along with thousands of acres of land for farming and trading, the guild holds over 150,000,000 gold pieces in earnings, more than any other known corporation in the world.

History

The Merchants' Guild was begun by a rich noble who monopolized multiple industries in his home city, beginning the original merchant's guild, known as Poloto's riches. The guild was revisesed and changed over the centuries, being renamed after the original creator died. Before his passing, he expanded the guilds bussnis to renting out space for non afiliated people to place their stands to sell their items for a certain tax.

The OIA is very thankful for The Merchants' Guild's donations to rebuild The Outlands, along with creating better infrastructure. The Merchants' Guild is mostly indifferent about the OIA, but their monopoly of malachite has given the guild some interest in The Outlands and its plentiful land.

Non-Aggressive, for now

The Merchants' Guild and The Black Market have been at odds for the entirety of both of their existences, with The Underground specializing in illegal products like drugs and illegal weapons, while The Merchants' Guild uses lawful and intelligent tactics to get what they want.
