Disciples of Selune, The

The Disciples of Selune were a proud organization of outcasts who worshiped the goddess of such. unfortunately, Selune was blown up during The Battle of The Capital, losing the faith of their supernatural abilities and most of their flock. The remaining worshipers became paranoid and anxious, trying to convert any and all people they meet to their faith in the hope their combined worship could bring their dead goddess back.

Structure

The pope of this faith sits on top, obviously, governing the entire faith and all below him. The "Praisers" are next, a council of religeus individuals who govern the religion of different areas of Faerun. The bishops are next, they are in charge of each settlement the faith has a presence in. Priests govern the churches of Selune, though often they are not needed if the settlement is small enough.

Culture

The disiples used to see the world aroung them as a place of boundless opportunity and a place to spread their faith through peaceful means, but since Selune blew up, they are all now very fearful and try to convert anyone they see to their faith through any means, making most people see them as nothing more than a cult.

Public Agenda

The faith was a respectable religion, but Selune's destruction caused them to become fearful, making most people see them as a paranoid cult.

Assets

They have 82 chapels, 134 churches, and around 300,000 GP in funds.

History

The Disciples of Selune has been around for thousands of years and was a widespread religion across Faerun. The faith was created by human worshipers of Pelor who were excommunicated after an unknown event, turning their faith to Selune. Over time their influence grew until they became a faith rivaling The Order of Pelor itself. After Selune's destruction, about 60% of their followers left the faith to seek salvation somewhere else, because it was clear that Selune no longer lent clerics Her power.

Divine Origins

The faith is a splinter group from The Order of Pelor after an unknown event cast out a small percentage. The outcasts, looking for faith, turned towards the closest thing to the sun, the moon, Selune. These believers created the myth of the goddess Selune, actually giving Her form, due to the natural law of god creation.

Cosmological Views

The Disciples of Selune believe the same idea of creation as other religions in their pantheon, the idea that the world was created by a was between the gods and the corpses of the dead ones coming together to form Erozorona.

Worship

Most praise and worship happens at night when the moon is out. To praise Selune, you turn your hands towards the moon and say your prayer.

Priesthood

The priests of the faith are ordained with a golden necklace depicting the various phases of the moon, along with a white cloak with black splotches, similar to the craters flecked across Selune's surface. Anyone other than a priest wearing this garb is considered blasphemous and the person will be excommunicated immediately.

Granted Divine Powers

Most of the time, the priests of Selune are gifted with performing the miracle of light, specifically moonlight, which they summon from Selune Herself. This power waxes and wains along with the phases of the moon, and disappears during a new moon. This moonlight can be bent into different shapes and forms, from focusing the light into a burning beam, to imbuing new life into the dead.
