Summon Elemental Ally
Effect
You summon an elemental from the Elemental Planes of challenge rating 2 or lower; It appears in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. The elemental disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends.
The elemental is friendly to you and your companions for the duration. Roll initiative for the creature, which has its own turns. It obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you), as long as they don't violate its alignment. If you don’t issue any commands to the elemental, it defends itself from hostile creatures but otherwise takes no actions. If you know a specific elemental in the Elemental Planes you may try to summon them directly, but they may make a Charisma save to resist being called.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the maximum challenge rating of your summoned creature increases by 2 for each slot level above 2nd.
Side/Secondary Effects
When the ritual is completed, there is a flash, and the ritual circle is filled with the corresponding element.
Manifestation
A strong odor corresponding to the elemental type lingers in the area for some time. It may smell like sulfur or brimstone for a fire elemental, or salt and seaweed for a water elemental.
Material Components
A small amount of the element that your summoned creature comes from.
Gestures & Ritual
The ritual for the spell involves lots of chanting in the correct primordial magic as well as the presentation of various forms of the correct element. Obsidian, forged iron, and charcole for a fire elemental for example.
