Eriu is a verdant island in the northern reaches of the Seolweth Empire. It is separated from the rest of the empire by the treacherous Anistall Depths, which makes trade in and out difficult, and conquering the island even more so. As such, the Drushenweth Duchy, which represents the Imperial will on the island, has been forced make uneasy alliances with many of the local kingdoms in order to maintain their hold. Within the duchy, as in much the rest of the empire, humans and halflings are treated equally, and members of other civilized races are welcomed in with the promise of their productivity and cooperation. Drushenweth occupies the south eastern portion of the island, controlling most of the major river and ports. To the west, the rival orc tribes of the Jokgagu and Hokgagu wage constant war against each other. The Jokgagu are valuable trade partners with Drushenweth, valuing the humans tools and weapons as much as the humans value their combat prowess, while the Hokgagu hate any who do not belong to their tribe, attacking foreigners on site. Further west still, Goblins hunt in the Wrairnirk Mountains presenting a constant source of trouble for the orcs. North of the orcish plains, the Elves of Estelar forest live peacefully, nominally allied with the humans but caring little for them and their politics. Further north lives a community of Gnomes calling itself a republic, which the other races believe to be gnomish nonsense. In the northwest corner of the island, the Dwarves of the Duloir mountains make their home, growing rich off trading their wares with the other kingdoms. There are also the native humans of the island, who live in the wilds north of the Barrow River. It is believed that these men posses some unnatural power which connects them to the land itself, making them difficult to conquer. And of course, throughout the land there are wellsprings of magic, fairy forests, where only the very brave or very foolish dare to venture.
