Semeluria

Structure

The Semelur King is a title passed down patrilineally - presiding over the people of Semeluria, organizing the kingdoms defense against encroaching monsters, encouraging research into new technology and magic, and most importantly, making sure that the Semelur farmers and their crops continue to flourish. It is the King's job to decide on policies such as public conduct and tithes, but also making sure that plagues and droughts receive the attention they need to resolve without crippling the Kingdom.   Semeluria is separated into a number of provinces with their own local governments, ruled by local lords and ladies. These leaders play similar roles to the Semelur King, but on a smaller scale. Most provinces have a specific focus, playing to their local geography's strengths - whether that means having a few primary crops that they produce in bulk or a focus on technological or magical development. In turn, the provinces then barter and trade with each on the macro scale to ensure their people have consistent supplies of the goods they need while smaller traders make their way from town to town.

Culture

Semeluria has long been an agricultural paradise of sorts. Long, stable seasons and fertile soil across a few biomes mean that the land is capable of supporting many types of crops rotating around the year to follow the seasons. This sort of abundance has led to innovation over time, as the different provinces settled and wished to trade with each other more efficiently. As a result, Semeluria boasts some of the most advanced roads and transportation vehicles and networks of any current civilization. Additionally, the relative closeness that the transportation networks created led to an increase in other technologies, allowing for ever greater quality of life among its citizens.   In modern day, Semeluria is largely content with its size and position. Every year, adventurers make it a little farther from the walls of the Kingdom, but these forays are mostly done for personal fame more than any practical reason. The fertile land means that more than just the civilized races flourish here, and outside of the walls are ever-strengthening legions of monsters - providing plenty of incentive to stay in the settled lands. To solve the issues of overpopulation and limited living spaces, the Semelurs have carried the idea of space-folding - originally applied to bags and then eventually vehicles - to their very buildings; creating technomagical wonders that can house entire legions in the space of a small house.
