Meta: Houserules for Eris

This setting uses DnD5e with a whole Skyrim-Mod-List worth of 3rd party content and personal homebrew. Some of this homebbrew includes rules and entities adapted from PathFinder 1e content. Essentially this is because while 5e's mechanics are straightforward enough to make the gameplay dynamic and fun compared to PF, it is severely lacking in flavour and content in general. This page lists many of the specific homebrew rules as well as links to 3rd party content uised in games on Eris. at the bottom of the page is a complete list of Pre-Approved 3rd party content.

Races

Races on Eris are heavily modified to fit the setting's standard High-fantasy theme. Rules are as follows
  • Warforged is Banned, this includes the fixed version; Automata technology has not advanced enough within the setting to justify them
  • In lore, Tieflings and Aesimar are not born from divine or fiendish origins; they are given a gift/curse by the bestower. Tieflings/Aesimar can only be used in conjunction with Ancestry and Culture. this also applies to Genasi
  • Ratfolk are now native to Eris, and are renamed to Scaven
  • Dragonborn are renamed in-setting to Draconians
  • Most of the more outlandish/setting specific WotC races such as giff, loxodons, Vedalken and the like will require DM approval to play. this applies to homebrew races as well, though the DM is more accepting of a well written homebrew about Frog people (Grippli) than of a ripped UA from one of the worst spinoff modules WotC ever released (Giff and Spelljammer respectively), to provide an example. (this wasn't a prediction of the spelljammer module released in 2022. the original SJ was a mechanical mess
  • Shifters are banned. bad race, also being replaced by Circle of Skin druids
  • Centaurs are not banned but presently have no lore. they are also size class large to prevent voltronning.

Classes

  • Gunpowder-based classes cannot exist with their current fluff, as gunpowder (and any viable alternative compounds) does not function as it does in the real world. If a player wishes to play a gun-themed class, they will have to figure out a workaround, likely using magic, and likely making the replacement resource acquisition a key issue for the class' gameplay. The Gun mage and Gunbreaker Classes are examples of compatible classes with this methodology.
  • Cobalt soul Monk has edits to make its more librarian-role
  • Atavist classblock has been heavily modified.

Feats

  • Weapon Master now allows characters to choose exotic weapons as part of their selection.
