Lower Lete

Lower Lete is ruled by the Blackheart family and has been for more than two centuries. They rule from Karshé which sits on the southern delta of the Great River, or simply The River which roughly splits the continent in half. To Lower Lete's north is the Demenian Empire. To its west is a small border with the magocracy the Republic of the Magi and a nearly impenetrable mountain chain.
Lower Lete's northern lands is predominantly veld with the Aura Desert in its northeastern quarter. The Aura Desert is rumored to be a cursed, unnatural region and the legends seem to back up the claim. Every few years a caravan of explorers will venture into the desert with the intent of mapping it or chasing down one of the many rumors of hidden riches. Few ever return. South of that The veld and sand gives way to high, rolling green hills and trees along with the indomitable Great River, which runs directly south through the center of the Kingdom.
Karshé is the jewel of Lower Lete with its dozens of waterfalls, magically powered canals, and lifts as The River drops to sea level through a long series of falls, pools, and rapids. Karshé is the center for all trade in the south of the continent. It has the only ports that are accessible year round giving it a veritable monopoly on trade. However this is likely to change in the coming years as Demenia has recently deployed a number of airships in its growing Air Armada.
