The Warlords - Major Orc Religion
Orcs do not revere a otherworldly apparition, but worship previous individuals who paved the way for their people today. Warlords are different to a Warchief. Warchiefs rule over a tribe a orcs, much like a lord, whilst Warlords are gods amongst the orcs. Individuals who have performed such great deeds that they go down in history as legends.
Some of the more famous Warlords include, Grognakh the Eviscerator, well known for uniting the orc tribes against the dwarves of Vol'Kohldir in 1752 of the 2nd era.
Ul'Garr Strongjaw was a healer who discovered the strong healing properties of dia weed, a reed that grows within the Warnora Wilds. Since the application of dia weed, orc shamans have become master healers.
Lastly is Orgoth the Unmoving, a champion warrior, master strategist, and inspiring leader. Orgoth uncovered the plot to use orcs as pawns of war, a cheap way to have large numbers of soldiers at your disposal. While the discovery led to a brutal civil war where Orgoth fell on the battlefield. Orgoth's "True Sons" as the rebel orcs were called, ended up being victorious and freeing the orcs from human oppression.
Upon an orcs death, the shamans confer over whether the orc shall be risen to Warlord status. Most are just tossed aside as scraps for wolves and other beasts but some are given a permanent residence in the mountains, a mausoleum built at the base of the Frozen Peaks. Here the orcs who are given the title Warlord are forever preserved in the mountain by the shamans. It is the absolute highest honour for any orc.
