The Stone Mother - Major Mountain Dwarf Religion
Mountain Dwarves of the Frozen Peaks in Northern Ereth have long believed that the land itself is the being that gave them life, the Stone Mother.
Unlike their hill born counterparts, the mountain dwarves of Noladuhr revere the stone and everything it represents. Their vast underground cities are as much monuments to the Stone Mother as they are their homes. Weapons and armour are carefully crafted, taking care to treat them well, as a part of the Stone Mother is in every dwarf forged weapon and armour.
When mountain dwarves die, they are taken deep beneath the mountains and buried in a tomb known as the Kilgran, a resting place that allows dwarves to take passage to Vormunheim, city of the dead. It is believed that dwarves do not contain a soul, in the same sense as a human or an elf, but are merely a part of the Stone Mother, and so the Kilgran is required to return the dwarf to the Stone Mother in Vormunheim.
