Lord High Commander

Written by Salen

The rank of Lord High Commander is a prestigious one, often given to outstanding heroes in the Riders of Erendor. This person is then elevated to govern the entire host from the capitol city of Tir-Onial and acts as a representative for them to the council. He handles the day to day running of the massive company and deals with the politics of the council when it pertains to them. He holds up the beliefs of the company to the letter and acts as a figurehead to many of the aspiring candidates to the riders.

Core beliefs

The three core beliefs of the Riders are as follows. These can never be broken by any member, and is the backbone of the functionality of the group over many decades.
  • Never take money for killing - The Riders do many jobs but the one they won't touch is assassination of any kind. Monster hunting is different and the line has been discussed over the many years. The riders never actively hunt individuals, but rather monsters that have abducted, killed, or otherwise harmed others.
  • Once a contract has been taken, it is finished - The riders pride themselves on being truthful and honest. If they take a job they finish it, no matter how hard. The only exception to this is if they find that they have been lied to about the details of the contract, which nullifies the entire thing.
  • Never let the innocent fall - The riders are a force of justice and honor for the people of Erendor. As such they must never intentionally let the innocent perish. This isn't to say that they can't ever fail, but rather they must never turn their backs on the people's needs.

“Hail the riders!” Rikard shouted as they neared, startling them into pulling their weapons in the deepening gloom. Once they saw the group however, they sheathed them and made way for a rider in back. It was Marcus Keller, the lord high commander of Tir-Onial himself.   “Lady Nightstar, you must ride with us at once for the capitol,” the man said, his voice low and halting, as if emotion ruled his words. From Dragon Caller, Rise of the Archmage book 1
