The brothers are called to another meeting with the king once again just before the evening ambush they were to carry out with the other guild members. They were met in the throne room by Hagren asking that the king abandon them in exchange for the favor of the Undercourts. The prince however claimed Drae as a compatriot of one of the cities nobles. Accepting his defeat Hagren charged them with returning the marker they received with their last supper. Arriving in Barley where they left it they found themselves immediately ambushed. Fleeing back to Alochrin they firmed their decision to set an ambush for the assassin. However, their bait was ignored until they returned to Barley to find the assassin waiting for them. A battle ensued in which Clemence landed a lucky blow taking the assassin out of the fight. The council took him for questioning and the brothers spent some time enjoying their freedom with their companions. Heading into deep study and newfound vices, Drae was confronted by the Proudfoots and pulled into their ranks.
