Carter Jordan
Carter was born to Thomas and Martha Jordan and raised in Port Tavalo. His father, Thomas Jordan, was a shipwright and had a small but successful business catering mostly to clients from Tirine. Thomas dreamed of his son, Carter, taking over the business someday and expanding it. Carter always felt that he was meant for more than the life of a shipwright. At the age of 15, Carter realized he was able to understand the ways of magic and he could access magic but he did not know what to do with that or how it would help him get out of Port Tavalo. That same year, his brother, Clark, was born. Carter loved him but knew Clark had no magic within him unlike Carter. Two years later, Carter was playing with his brother in their father's shipyard when Clark, who was pretending to fly, fell and broke both his legs. Carter rushed him back home and nursed him. Clark's legs got infected and he became deathly ill. Thomas had always known Carter understood the ways of magic but never said anything about it until now. Thomas asked Carter to heal Clark but Carter had no idea how to do that, or if he even could. At just passed the age of 3, Clark succumbed to his infection and died. Thomas, stricken with grief, lashed out at Carter and blamed him for Clark's death and doing none of his "hocus pocus" to save his brother. Thomas banished Carter from their home. Only knowing of Lumberfell because he had been there so much with his father for the business, Carter set out to go there to see if he can learn and understand the ways of magic so he can finally understand who he is and what his purpose in life is. Carter has spent the last 5 years in Lumberfell studying magic and now he seeks to explore Erellion to learn and grow his magical craft.
As a boy growing up in Port Tavalo, Carter met Hand befriended Holgast. Holgast visited Port Tavalo regularly and was knows as the sweet, weird man with a lot of money. Carter could never understand why he was drawn to Holgast, until the death of his brother. Carter went to Holgast seeking answers and Holgast would only respond to him that Carter was not ready. When Carter left Port Tavalo and came to Lumberfell, he found Holgast wandering and they talked one day for hours. Carter told Holgast the story of what happened and when he finsihed, Holgast looked at him and said that now Carter was ready. And so it was that Carter began to study the ways of magic from Holgast. Five years later, Carter stays in the small shack where he and Holgast live studying and reading all he can about the ways of magic and the arcane. Carter stuies hoping to find the answers he desperately seeks.

Holgast met Carter Jordan on his frequent trips to Port Tavalo . As the young man grew he left home for reasons Holgast was not concerned with. The two live together as student and mentor until Carter is ready to make his way in the world.
